In every concert that we attend to, we always see a man behind the drum set. We only see ladies as dancers, backup singers or lead singers. Rare are bands or drummers that are women. Few people encourage women to become drummers. Being the cousin of Kristina Schiano, whom I believe is an excellent girl drummer, we both think that not only men can play drums, but girls can also play and beat the drums! Being a drum player myself, I too encourage women to stand behind the set with a good pair of drumsticks and start beating the hell out the rhythm of the song!
Like anyone else, everybody I believe has begun his career somewhere. Take Kristina for example: since her young age, she started playing drums and making song covers on YouTube. She constantly kept doing covers until the present time in which she has grown many “YouTube fans” of hers throughout the years. From her covers going through her different live streams that she has done many times lately, there are lots of people from around the world who kept watching her and asking question to her in order to improve whether it concerns their YouTube channel, her drum kit, the drum gear she used throughout the years, what kind of mics and/or camera she uses for her covers etc… In only 8 years, she has become like a YouTube star. She started with like less than ten subscribers, and still counting with her 375000 subscribers nowadays. Every of her own cover video make at least 16k to 20 or 30k views, all people from around the world. She has started with her drums inside her bedroom and still going through her own recording drum studio in her house aside from her bedroom.
Wanting to do kind off the same with song covers, recording myself playing on my drum set, I tried once to do it and uploaded it on YouTube! When I was young, my very first instrument learning was the guitar, which I kept playing for like a year or so. I than started learning the piano for like three or four years with my brother who was going through his fifth year, but he then stopped it. After the years of piano, I wanted to learn a new instrument, so I started learning the drums which kept me playing it for more than three or four years. I even started to play in bands with my friends throughout the years. We participated in many events, and made many concerts with them!
Anyway, let’s not get away from our main subject! As I said, there are few known girls who play the drums around the world, besides, talking about drum girls, aside Kristina, a girl in school was a drummer in a band too! She was a great drummer too! But their band didn’t last that long I think. Their band was called “Inochia” and they were playing very good songs indeed!
But for now and for everybody’s knowledge, let’s list a top 11 of girls, like Kristina does it, who prove to us that girls can and should do it too! so here it is:
 EMILY MAXWELL OF DADDY ISSUES
 AMBER GRIMBERGEN OF HINDS
 LUCY GILES OF DOG PARTY
LAURA “THE KID” KELSEY OF DEATH VALLEY GIRL
 LELAH MAUPIN OF TACOCAT
 JULIE EDWARDS OF DEAP VALLY
MARIAN LI PINO OF LA LUZ
 ANNE-MARIE VASSILIOU OF WHITE LUNG
CELESTE “CC” SPINA OF LITTLE HURRICANE
 STELLA MOZGAWA OF WARPAINT
 SHISHIDO KAVKA
You can check them any time you want! I’m sure they are great drum players!
But the main thing is: Keep up the good work girls! We hope that one day we will see more girls taking the stage in order to make it beat like the sound of the drums!
See you around later !
